Some unidentified miscreants allegedly vandalised the car of former Budhlada MLA Hardev Singh Arshi of the CPI on Bhikhi Road in Budhlada town of Mansa district on Wednesday night and decamped with cash from the vehicle.

According to reports, the incident took place around 8:30 pm when Arshi was busy campaigning for a party candidate in the nearby area.

During that time, his driver had reportedly stepped away for a short while. The miscreants allegedly smashed the windowpanes of the parked car, stole around Rs 7,000 kept in a wallet inside the vehicle, and fled from the spot. The wallet was later found thrown away nearby.

Speaking to The Tribune, Arshi said, “The incident occurred on Wednesday night. I was busy in the election campaign, and my driver had also gone somewhere for a while when the miscreants smashed the windowpane of the car and ran away with money lying in my wallet. They, however, threw the wallet away.” Arshi further said that he had lodged a complaint with the police, following which an investigation was initiated. Police are examining the matter and trying to identify the miscreants.
