The former president of the District Bar Association Rohtak, Lokendra Phogat and former general secretary Rohit Suhag have been booked on charges of cheating, criminal breach of trust and destruction of documents following an inquiry conducted into a complaint filed by the association’s current president, Deepak Hooda.

Hooda said while serving as general secretary of the association two years ago, he had lodged a written complaint against former president Phogat with the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, alleging irregularities in the association’s financial transactions, tampering with records and violation of financial procedures.

“After examining the complaint, the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana found the matter serious and cancelled Phogat’s licence. He later filed an appeal before the Bar Council of India but did not get any relief. Subsequently, on the direction of the Bar Council of India, I filed the complaint with the Rohtak SP who ordered an inquiry, which confirmed the allegations of financial irregularities and record tampering. Following this, an FIR has been registered against Phogat and Suhag at Arya Nagar police station today,” said Hooda.

Hooda has demanded immediate arrest of the accused. Confirming the registration of the FIR, Rohtak SP Gaurav Rajpurohit said an investigation has been initiated into the matter.
