
Kota Kinabalu: Former State coach Stanley Chew led several ex-State players who received recognition for their past contribution to the State football team at the reunion dinner organised by the Ex-State Footballers Association (Ex-State) at the Meridien Hotel here recently.
The other names on the list were Chan Man Hueng, John Pang, Dilbagh Singh, Datuk Saidun Basnie, Michael Jainul, Joseph Liew, Ma Ting Kiong, Mahmud Mohsin, Lucy Ahing, Ku Eng Huat and Ahmad Idris.
Ex-State president Datuk James Wong said more than 100 members turned up for the annual event with Sabah Sports Council Mohd Asneh Noor as the guest of honour.
“It was very encouraging to see so many of our past heroes get together in one room as some of them have not seen each other for decades.”He also said the 8th Ex State Annual General Meeting chaired by him was successfully held earlier on the day at Wisma Muis.
“During the meeting, we discussed how the association could further contribute to the development of football in the state following the success of our clinics held in Sook, Keningau and Ranau recently and also the weekly programme held at Sukma field,” he said.
