An exhausted Malaysian man in his 30s fell asleep in his car at one of the traffic lights in Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
The vehicle’s stagnancy prompted the public to descend from their cars and knock on the window to alert the asleep driver about the incident after the light had turned green. Some even tried to shake his car to wake the man up, but to no avail.
He was sound asleep, and professional help had to be called in
In an official statement by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) in Damansara, the incident took place on Sunday (9 November) at 7:21 AM.
A team of firefighters was deployed to the scene after receiving a report about the matter from the public, and they had to use special equipment to open the vehicle door to remove the driver.
The firefighters confirmed that the man was sleeping even after the door had been opened due to exhaustion.
He was then sent to the nearest police station for further action.
This, however, was not the first case that involved the firefighters unlocking individuals trapped in a car. As revealed in a social media post by the department, a baby, who was locked in a car in Bandar Utama, had to be removed by the firefighters just a couple of days before the incident at the traffic light.
The baby, fortunately, was safe after the rescue operation was conducted around 4:48 PM on 7 November.
