Kota Kinabalu: The Government should expand flight ticket subsidies to include all B40 Sabahans travelling home for Aidilfitri, not just students, says Sabah Umno Chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.
He said many Sabahans working in Peninsular Malaysia struggle with high airfare prices, especially during festive seasons, making it difficult for them to reunite with their families.
“Every year, many Sabahans face exorbitant ticket prices when trying to return home for Hari Raya. For the B40 group, this is an added financial strain,” he said in a statement Saturday.
He noted that while the government’s initiative to subsidise flight tickets for students was welcomed, it was not enough to ease the burden on low-income Sabahans, many of whom work far from home.
