Kota Kinabalu: A forensic handwriting expert told the Coroner’s Court that substantial portions of journals and handwritten notes attributed to Zara Qairina Mahathir were written by her, although some entries were found to have been authored by other individuals.
Forensic Document Examiner and Certified Handwriting Expert Dr Linthini Gannetion said documents marked W1 and large sections of W2 matched Zara’s known handwriting samples from 2023 to 2025.
She said W2 was not used exclusively as Zara’s personal journal, as several pages contained writings by other individuals alongside her entries, indicating that others may have had access to the journal.
Dr Linthini also told the court that signs of possible tampering in certain documents could not be ruled out based on her examination.
The 74th deponent gave evidence before Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan on Tuesday, with her analysis covering documents W1, W2, W3 and Y1 to Y15, as well as handwriting samples from Zara and 10 other individuals identified as Writers A to J.
