Expert maintains findings on Zara Qairina handwriting at inquest

Kota Kinabalu: A document examiner maintained at the Coroner's Court on Thursday that nothing in the testimony of another forensic handwriting expert caused her to alter the conclusions in her report regarding writings linked to the late Zara Qairina Mahathir.

Recalled witness Nurul Atiqah Mohd Noh said during examination that her original findings attributing the questioned writings to the 13-year-old deceased remained unchanged after considering the testimony of Dr Linthini Gannetion.

Questioned by Deputy Public Prosecutor Dana Arabi Wazani before Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan, Nurul affirmed that minor scribbles, amendments, or different writing instruments on entries do not negate the conclusion that they were written by Zara.

She also testified that another expert's inability to reach a conclusion does not indicate the writings were authored by someone else, noting that variations in an adolescent's handwriting do not necessarily point to a different writer.

The inquest into the student's death will resume in October.
