Kota Kinabalu: The relationship between Zara Qairina Mahathir and her mother appeared emotionally active, psychologically significant and continuing during the material period, the Coroner's Court heard on Friday.
Consultant psychiatrist Dr Wong Haw Huo told the court that the mother's parenting style appeared caring, involved, protective and guidance-oriented, based on his assessment.
The 75th deponent said Zara's responses often emphasised practical advice, safety, behavioural regulation, composure, religious or faith-based coping and perseverance.
Reading from his witness statement before Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan, Wong testified that such a parenting style may provide structure, stability and guidance.
He added that, at the same time, the parenting approach may be less conducive to deeper emotional exploration or validation, particularly when distress is expressed indirectly or intensely.
