Given the erratic weather pattern these days, it’s nice to cool down with a cup of fresh coconut water using young coconut Matag at Kelapa Oasis. They also serve Coconut Shake — a refreshing and creamy blend of fresh coconut milk and ice or try their preservatives-free Coconut Jelly made from 100% coconut water. Hungry? Craving for some good Sarawak food? Head on to USJ 9 and look for Restoran Mama Ting (you can’t miss its bright red signboard). Some of their recommended dishes include the springy Kampua Mee and Kolo Mee. Or savour the robust taste of Sarawak Laksa with a choice of beehoon or noodle. And not to forget, the unique Tomato Kuey Teow. Restoran Mama Ting at USJ 9 marks the third branch after SS2 and Puchong.

Here’s a pork-free Korean restaurant at USJ Taipan on the first floor, offering various comfort foods to satisfy your craving. There’s the recommended Bibimbap — a rice combo with vegetables and red chilli paste. Coming from Penang, James Foo Western Food serves reasonably priced fusion Western-Asian foods, one of which includes their must-have Signature Chicken Chop. You get a big slab of deep-fried, Hainanese-style chicken chop in an appetising Oriental sauce served with sides. Some of James Foo Western Food’s all-time favourites worth trying include their Fresh Wild Mushroom Soup with a piece of Garlic Bread, Grilled Holland Chicken Chop with pork ham, pineapple slices and cheese with brown sauce and the hearty Mix Grill. The latter comes with a mix of ribeye, lamb shoulder, chicken and German pork sausage with an egg.

Speggit Restaurant combines Italian, Western and Asian to their eclectic pasta selections, offering a choice of spaghetti, linguine, fettuccine, angel hair or penne. Then comes the sauce that goes with the pasta from the Classic Aglio Olio to Bolognese, Alfredo and Carbonara. Or try something fusion such as the spicy-creamy Masak Lomak Cili Api and Buttermilk sauteed with garlic, bird’s eye chilli, curry leaves and Parmesan cheese. Lapan Gourmet excels at its local specialities, beginning with the fragrant Nasi Lemak Mak Elisa—a plate of aromatic coconut sauce served with the special 16-spice sauce on freshly fried chicken whole leg. Or try their classic Laksa Lemak, using laksa panjang with a treasure trove of ingredients, from mackerel to shredded cucumber and pineapple, in a spicy-sour coconut broth.
