A missile alert could be heard in Dubai on Friday (20 March) as the United Arab Emirates announced that they had activated air defences against incoming fire.

Footage of the sky shows clouds of smoke forming from appearing interceptions, whilst the sounds of other blasts could be heard.

The Dubai Media Office said: "Authorities in Dubai confirm the success of all air interception operations, with no injuries reported."

It came as many in the country marked Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
