Kota Kinabalu: The Smart Lifestyle Expo 2025 gathers a wide range of latest home solutions and vendors under one roof at SICC from Friday to today (Sunday).

One of the main exhibitors Liang Furniture Co-Founders Chua Chong Chin and Chin Yun Hing told Daily Express they hoped participants to the expo would not only boost the sales but also bring more furniture range to the people in Sabah.

“In addition to furniture, we also offer home appliances brand including Toshiba and Lorenzo,” they said.

Another key exhibitor Decakila Marketing Director Arnold Chan said their home and kitchen appliances are all cordless and powered through Lithium ion batteries to stay in line with the hybrid tech trend.

From hand-held blenders to vacuum cleaners, the products on display reflected a modern lifestyle where freedom from cables is becoming the norm.

Arnold also shared that Decakila Malaysia is now available online, with free nationwide shipping and an extra surprise for first-time buyers.

“We are expecting Sabah people to come and visit our development in Papar Benoni, in which we also have discounts for Bumiputras,” said WSG Group Sales Executive Wan Zurfazlie.

“We have been in the business for more than 38 years and we operate eight physical outlets in both Labuan and Sabah,” said New Tech Furniture General Manager Kenny Phang.

He added that they brought along four big brands, namely Fenzo, Tatran Wood, Ortho Care and Squirrel to the expo.

“By joining this event, we are not just promoting furniture. We are building connections, sparking inspiration, and offering something truly special to Sabahans,” said another exhibitor Squirrel General Manager Dennis Koo.

“We hope by participating in this exhibition we can support our retail partner, New Tech, in promoting our products,” said Fenzo General Manager David Sim.

Yet what tied the entire event together was the human touch. Whether it was a conversation over material choices, a shared laugh about living room sizes, or the echo of sneakers on a basketball court, the Smart Lifestyle Expo reminded everyone of one simple truth: good living starts with good connection.

“We do expect all the participants to come here to enjoy this event. We hope everyone who comes here can get more in education and advice, especially from the Department of Skills Development (JPK) about technical and event in Malaysia,” said Novas Group advisor Tommy Tan.

Meanwhile, the inaugural Decakila 3v3 Basketball Cup, held in conjunction with the expo and graced by Guest of Honour Datuk Ram Singh, saw champions crowned across four categories: JADT (Boys U-10), BBYG (Girls U-12), The Black Stars (Boys U-12), and Gallery Korea Décor (Mixed Open).

The basketball cup added a vibrant community feel to the expo, with cheering spectators, music, and even spontaneous product demos at the sidelines. For many, it was a highlight that proved lifestyle isn’t just about how we live at home. It’s about how we play, gather, and connect outside of it too.

While the Smart Lifestyle Expo was filled with product launches, design showcases and business opportunities, its most meaningful moment came not from a sale, but from a gesture of giving.

In a touching show of solidarity, all participating vendors came together to raise and contribute funds to three local organisations: Sabah Methodist Children’s Home, Love and Care (Shern En Methodist Church) and the Sabah Thalassaemia Association Kudat, additionally Decakila gifting each organisation a household appliance as a special gesture.
