Kota Kinabalu: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic) on Sunday announced an additional public holiday in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration next week.

He said the extra holiday will fall on March 23, 2026, if Aidilfitri is celebrated on Friday, March 20.

If Aidilfitri instead falls on Saturday, March 21, the additional public holiday will be observed on March 20, 2026.

Anwar said the move is intended to provide greater convenience for Malaysians to make travel and family arrangements during the festive period.

He made the announcement while officiating the National Consumer Day here.
