PETALING JAYA: A factory worker has been charged in the magistrates’ court in Kota Tinggi with two counts of giving support to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group.
Suhaini Sarwan nodded when the charges were read to her before magistrate Hayda Faridzal Abu Hassan.
However, no plea was recorded as the case is to be transferred to the High Court, reported Sinar Harian.
In the first charge, Suhaini is accused of possessing articles on her laptop related to the terrorist group at Jalan Baiduri, Taman Daiman Jaya, Kota Tinggi, on May 30.

Read more According to the second charge, the 46-year-old was found in possession of five books related to IS at Felda Lok Heng Barat, Kota Tinggi, on May 30.
The charges were framed under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code, punishable under Section 130JB(1).
If convicted, Suhaini could face imprisonment of up to seven years or a fine. Any property used or intended to be used in committing the offence would also be confiscated.
Deputy public prosecutor Fakhrurrazi Ahmad Salim prosecuted while Suhaini was not represented.
The case has been set for mention on July 29 for a decision on the application to transfer the trial to the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
On Tuesday, Suhaini was charged in the Johor Bahru sessions court with possessing materials linked to IS and terrorist acts on her mobile phone.
Her husband, Feesol Haron, 35, faced a similar charge in a separate court.
They allegedly committed the offences at a factory in the Kempas Industrial Park at around 1.10pm and 1.15pm on May 30.
Suhaini also faced two more charges of supporting IS via two Facebook accounts under the names of “Suhaini Sarwan” and “Enma Kenma”. The offences were allegedly committed at the Special Branch’s counter-terrorism division in Kuala Lumpur at 5.50pm, May 27.
