PARTI Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Women’s Chief Fadhlina Sidek has declined a call for a public debate by Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail, stating that her current priority is to strengthen the party and support its president, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“There is no need. My answer is the same as Nurul Izzah’s — there is no necessity. Our focus right now is on strengthening the party,” Fadhlina told reporters on Tuesday following a grassroots engagement event alongside Nurul Izzah Anwar.

Rodziah had earlier invited Fadhlina to a debate on the future of women in the party. Responding to this, Fadhlina acknowledged the value of debate in principle, especially when it centres on substantive policy issues.
“In truth, it requires understanding and a conducive environment for such a debate to take place,” she said.
“However, at this moment, our focus should be on unity, strength, and rebuilding the party.”
Fadhlina, who is also Minister of Education, reiterated that the priority is to engage with the grassroots and restore their confidence in the party’s leadership process.
“This party election is about ensuring that the leaders chosen are those who genuinely represent the voice of the grassroots and who are committed to delivering meaningful change,” she added. - May 20, 2025
