Fahmi didn’t issue statement on concert guidelines: comms ministry

KUALA LUMPUR – The Communications and Digital Ministry denied that its minister Fahmi Fadzil had issued a statement on guidelines from the Central Agency for Application for Filming and Performance by Foreign Artistes (Puspal) as reported by a local newspaper yesterday.

The ministry, in a statement, said the Puspal guidelines (latest revision) dated December 31, 2022 as published on the ministry’s website were aimed at simplifying and easing the conditions for the relevant parties dealing with filming and performances by foreign artistes.

“In this regard, the communications and digital minister never issued any statement regarding these guidelines as was reported in the media,” the statement said.

It added that further information on the guidelines is available on the ministry’s website or by contacting the Committee on Application for Filming and Performance by Foreign Artistes (JK-Puspal) at 03-8911 5356.

The statement was issued in response to the newspaper report with the headline “Stricter Rules For Foreign Concerts”, which quoted Fahmi as saying, among others, that the updates were made based on feedback from various parties to protect the sensitivities of everyone in Malaysia. – Bernama, March 16, 2023
