PKR Information Chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil expressed confidence that the party's representatives will choose a leadership team aligned with the party's direction in the upcoming election on May 24.
“It is up to the party members who will serve as delegates at the PKR Special National Congress to be held in Johor to select the leadership that they feel is best suited to the party’s vision and future direction,” Fahmi, who is also Communications Minister, said at the Terengganu Batik Entrepreneurs Association’s Aidilfitri Craft Bazaar at the Craft Complex today.
Bernama cited him saying, regardless of whether the result is a win or loss, the party must remain open and unite its strengths.
"The party must embrace the strength of all members who wish to contribute to building a MADANI nation," he added.
Fahmi's remarks came in response to questions regarding the nomination of Nurul Izzah Anwar for the role of vice-president, and he anticipated that more candidates would announce their intentions to stand in the election in the coming days.
Having previously confirmed his own candidacy for the position of vice president, Fahmi also urged party members to adhere to the rules and practice a harmonious election culture.
“I hope that everyone will accept the election results with a spirit of unity,” he said.
"As the old Malay saying goes—‘biduk lalu, kiambang bertaut’—whatever the outcome, we are one team, and we all want what is best for Malaysia."
In addition to Fahmi, four incumbent PKR vice presidents have announced their intentions to retain their positions: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari; Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun; Minister for Natural Resources and Environment Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad; and Izzah. – March 18, 2025
