DOHA, Nov 8 — Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil is scheduled to take part in two ministerial-level forums today focusing on strengthening international cooperation in the development and future of the digital ecosystem.
The two events are the Ministerial Panel at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Doha 2026: Digital Leadership Forum and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26) Ministerial Roundtable, both taking place at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).
Fahmi’s participation in the two forums is among the key engagements of his working visit to Doha, where he is also leading the Malaysian delegation to ITU PP-26.
According to the official programme of the Malaysian delegation, Fahmi is scheduled to attend the MWC Doha 2026 welcome ceremony before joining a ministerial panel session titled “Accelerating Cooperation for a Connected Digital Future”.
The session will provide a platform for discussions on the importance of cooperation in shaping a more connected digital future.
In the afternoon, Fahmi is scheduled to attend the PP-26 Doha Ministerial Roundtable, which will feature opening remarks, ministerial presentations and a discussion session.
The programme will also see the launch of the Doha Ministerial Declaration, one of the key agenda items of the gathering.
Fahmi is also scheduled to visit exhibition booths operated by several international technology and telecommunications companies, including Huawei, Ericsson, Ooredoo, Nokia and VEON, at DECC.
In the evening, he is scheduled to attend a dinner hosted by the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) in conjunction with MWC Doha.
Fahmi’s working visit to Doha also carries an important mission for Malaysia to retain its seat on the ITU Council for the 2027-2030 term.
ITU PP-26, held in Doha, is the organisation’s highest decision-making conference, convened every four years to determine its direction, policies and strategic plans.
Malaysia, which has been an ITU member since February 3, 1958, was elected to the ITU Council for the 2023-2026 term at the PP-22 conference in Bucharest, Romania. — Bernama
