PUTRAJAYA, Oct 24 — Activities involving the serving and consumption of alcohol as well as gambling on school premises will remain as stated in existing regulations, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said this afternoon.

He said the Cabinet agreed that the Education Ministry will maintain the status quo despite concerns from the Chinese Malaysian community, who view the prohibition as potentially overriding their social customs and traditions.

“The Cabinet has agreed that the existing practice will continue to apply, with no changes to the current guidelines,” he told reporters here after the weekly Cabinet meeting.
