
PKR INFORMATION Chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has joined the race for a vice-president’s post in the upcoming party polls.
Fahmi, who is also communications minister and Lembah Pantai MP has held the position of PKR information chief since July 2022.
He said the contest will be run in a family-like environment, in a healthy manner.
“My team and I will offer our best ideas, because PKR is a party which looks to the future,” he said.
This is his second time Fahmi is contesting the vice-presidency, after his first attempt in the 2022 party polls failed.
Prior to this, he was the party’s communications director from September 2013 to July 2022.
Last night, Nurul Izzah Anwar had also announced that she will be contesting for one of the vice-presidencies in the May PKR elections.
Apart from Fahmi and Izzah, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun and Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad have also announced their intention to defend their vice-president positions.
Joining the race is also Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari who had also announced that he will defend his position as one of the PKR vice presidents.
PKR’s four elected vice-presidents are Aminuddin, Amirudin, Nik Nazmi and Chang Lih Kang, who is the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation
Deputy National Unity Minister Saraswathy Kandasamy, Putatan MP Awang Husaini Awang Sahari and Izzah are the three appointed vice-presidents.
PKR has set May 24 for elections to its Central Leadership Council (MPP), Women’s Leadership Council (MPWP), and Youth Leadership Council (MPAMKP).
Party secretary-general Fuziah Salleh previously announced that elections for division-level positions, including the Women’s and Youth wings, will be held from April 11 to 20. – March 16, 2025
