KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s independence was achieved through the sacrifices and struggles of past generations, and their legacy must continue to be valued and preserved, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said.

He said Malaysians, irrespective of race, religion, culture or background, must remain committed to strengthening unity, promoting mutual respect and protecting the harmony that forms the foundation of the country’s resilience, Bernama reported.

“With a spirit of togetherness and shared responsibility, we can build a more inclusive, prosperous, peaceful and harmonious Malaysia for all,” he said in his 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day message, which was posted on Berita RTM’s X account today.

In line with this year’s theme, “Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati”, Fahmi said the nation’s development and prosperity must be viewed as a collective responsibility, with the benefits of progress reaching every segment of society.

He expressed hope that Malaysia would continue advancing as a united nation while earning greater respect and recognition internationally.

“Happy National Day and Malaysia Day. Let us ignite the spirit of patriotism,” he said. - August 27, 2026
