KOTA KINABALU: Assistant Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Fairuz Renddan (pic) has urged schools and relevant authorities to take firm action against bullies and not protect them.

He said any student involved in bullying must face appropriate consequences, warning that shielding their identities sends the wrong message.

Fairuz stressed that unchecked bullying could lead to future antisocial behaviour that threatens the fabric of society.

The student was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital 1 (HQEI) for treatment but died on Thursday night.

Offering his condolences, Fairuz said he was heartbroken as a father, imagining the pain of losing a child under such tragic circumstances.

He appealed to all parties in authority to address the issue of bullying seriously, calling for strong disciplinary measures to prevent further harm to school communities.
