Kota Kinabalu: A prayer gathering themed “Love Malaysia” served as a platform for citizens to strengthen harmony and express patriotism during Malaysia Day and Sabah Day celebrations.

The event, held at the Gudwara Sahib Kota Kinabalu on Sunday, focused on prayers for national safety, harmony and unity among Malaysians.

Kinabalu Singh Sabha Kota Kinabalu Deputy President Jagjit Singh Sandhu said the gathering aimed to deliver an important message to younger generations about appreciating the sacrifices of past freedom fighters while instilling love for the country.

“Besides building patriotic spirit, this prayer reminds today’s youths to value our elders who sacrificed for the nation.

“It also strengthens unity values in civil society, aligned with the Malaysia Madani concept that emphasises balance between spiritual and mental development,” Jagjit told reporters after the event.

The ceremony was also attended by State Finance Ministry Assistant Secretary Wendy Laikim and Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) Vice President Datuk Johnny Ng.
