Fake travel documents: Man’s case for mention March 15

Kota Kinabalu: The Sessions Court set March 15 for mention of the case involving a 50-year-old man charged with giving fake travel documents to two Filipinos and having a fake entry endorsement on two passports.

Judge Azreena Aziz set the date for Chuk Tak Bo when his case was brought up for mention.

The court was informed that the deposition was completed and the prosecution is awaiting order to transfer the cases to the High Court.

On the first count, Chuk, is accused of giving the fake passports to two Filipinos, so that the alleged smuggling of the two victims was running smoothly at 6am on Nov 23, 2022 at a house in Kg Nosoob Baru, Penampang.

The offence under Section 26E of the same Act 2007, carries a jail term of between seven and15 years, and a fine of between RM50,000 and RM500,000, or both, on conviction.

On the second charge, Chuk allegedly possessed two passports with fake entry endorsements at a house in Taman Kendara, Jalan Kepayan/Nosoob at 10.30am on Dec 7, 2022.

The charge, under Section 56 (1) (I), punishable under Section 56 (1) (aa), both of the Immigration Act, provides for a fine of up to RM10,000 or a jail term of up to five years, upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Lim Sze Chuan appeared for the prosecution while counsel Luke Ressa Balang defended Chuk.
