Fala Chen, the former TVB actress who now resides in the United States, recently took a trip down memory lane, recalling her fond experiences in Malaysia during her days working in Hong Kong. In an exclusive interview with StarLifestyle on Wednesday (March 20), Chen shared insights into her starring role in the upcoming Hollywood movie, Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, set to hit cinemas nationwide on March 28.

During her time in Hong Kong, Chen frequently visited Malaysia and cherished the vibrant atmosphere of the night markets. "We used to go to the night markets a lot, and I love durian. I like going to the market and picking a durian, and they'd open it right there for us to eat," she reminisced, her face lighting up with nostalgia.

When asked about her favorite Malaysian dishes, Chen struggled to recall one particular spicy breakfast dish. With a hint of excitement, she exclaimed, "What is that food that's served for breakfast – you have to help me out here – it has egg, and it's spicy." The dish in question, Nasi Lemak, sparked a flood of memories for Chen. "Ah yes, Nasi Lemak. I also ate a lot of satays and, of course, the Malaysian Chinese food that I feel exceeds Cantonese food, like char siu," she explained, highlighting her appreciation for the diverse culinary offerings in Malaysia.

Chen, now 42, rose to fame in Hong Kong with notable roles in shows such as Moonlight Resonance (2008), Queens Of Diamonds And Hearts (2011), and Triumph In The Skies II (2013). During this period, she made several visits to Kuala Lumpur to promote shows or attend beauty events.

In 2013, Chen concluded her contract with TVB and ventured into the entertainment industry in China. Her career continued to flourish, and in 2019, she starred alongside Nicole Kidman in the US show The Undoing, marking her entry into Hollywood. She further solidified her presence in Hollywood with her role in Marvel's Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, where she starred alongside Tony Leung.

Reflecting on her experiences, Chen expressed her deep admiration for Malaysia's culinary scene, emphasizing the diversity and richness of its food. "Food is so diverse and amazing in Malaysia... I miss it so much," she remarked, highlighting the lasting impression Malaysia has left on her.

Earlier this week, Chen, who married French entrepreneur Emmanuel Straschnov in 2019, surprised her fans with an Instagram announcement of the birth of her second child, a boy, adding to her family with Straschnov, which already includes a three-year-old daughter.
