Fallen utility post, cables cause traffic in Pasay

A FALLEN utility pole and power cables are causing traffic disruptions along Taft Avenue-Libertad in Pasay City on Saturday.

The Pasay Traffic and Parking Management Office earlier advised motorists and pedestrians to expect heavy traffic in the area after a utility post and power cables fell, obstructing the roadway.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) confirmed to The Manila Times that the fallen post belongs to Meralco.

No casualties or injuries have been reported, MMDA told The Manila Times.

A Meralco team and the Pasay Engineering Office are already at the site, while an MMDA team has also been dispatched to assist, MMDA said.

The fallen post has not yet been removed as of press time, with traffic cones currently placed around the affected area.

There is no need for traffic rerouting because only one lane is occupied by the fallen post, according to MMDA.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when passing through the area.
