False claim on MyKAS eligibility for blue IC, says NRD

Kuala Lumpur: The National Registration Department (NRD) has denied a viral claim alleging that MyKAS holders are eligible to automatically obtain the MyKad or blue identity card.

 In a statement, the department described the claim as false and misleading, while urging the public not to spread unverified information that could create confusion.

 It clarified that the viral poster was not issued by NRD and stressed that MyKAS does not confer citizenship status on non-citizens.

 NRD said all applications and related decisions remain subject to existing legal provisions and official verification processes.

 The department further reminded the public that it has never appointed agents or middlemen for any dealings involving NRD matters.

 It added that there has been no official government announcement regarding proposed changes to MyKAS application requirements.
