
Kota Kinabalu: Five government officers, including a woman, have been arrested on suspicion of submitting false transfer claims amounting to approximately RM61,000 involving several districts in Sabah.
In their 30s and 50s, they were arrested between 10am and 12.30pm Monday at the Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office, here .
All suspects had allegedly submitted receipts from a transportation company for the purpose of payment for household goods and vehicle delivery, despite the services not being rendered, according to MACC sources.
Sabah MACC Director Datuk S Karunanithy confirmed the arrests.

“They have been detained for 24 hours for further investigation, and it is possible that additional arrests will be made.”
Karunanithy added that the five suspects would be charged in the Special Corruption Court in Kota Kinabalu today (Tuesday).
“As a result of this investigation, the MACC Sabah has provided advisory services to the Sabah State Civil Service Department, suggesting improvements to the circular on the service system and procedures regarding transfer claims in that department.”
