In a devastating early morning accident, a married couple lost their lives, and their two young children were seriously injured when their car collided with a trailer on Jalan Gua Musang–Kuala Krai. The incident occurred at approximately 1 a.m. near Kilometer 3 of the route, sending shockwaves through the local community.
According to Gua Musang District Police Chief, Superintendent Sik Choon Foo, the family of four was traveling from Kuala Krai to Gua Musang when the tragedy unfolded. The 25-year-old father, who was driving the Perodua Myvi, reportedly lost control of the vehicle while navigating a sharp right-hand curve. The car veered into the opposite lane, colliding head-on with a trailer driven by a 45-year-old man. The impact of the crash was severe, causing the trailer to skid and overturn, while the Myvi was flung onto the left shoulder of the road.
Emergency services, including firefighters, were promptly dispatched to the scene. Despite their efforts to extricate the driver and his 26-year-old wife, both were pronounced dead at the scene. Their two children—a 5-year-old boy and a 10-month-old baby girl—sustained injuries and were rushed to Gua Musang Hospital for urgent medical treatment. The condition of the children remains unknown at this time.
Superintendent Sik Choon Foo confirmed that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to reckless or dangerous driving resulting in death. Authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the accident, including whether factors such as road conditions, vehicle speed, or driver fatigue played a role.
In a statement, Sik urged anyone with information about the crash to come forward and assist with the investigation. Witnesses or individuals with relevant details can contact the Gua Musang District Police Headquarters’ Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at 09-9121222 or reach out to the investigating officer directly at 013-3010408.
