KUALA LUMPUR — Building a better future begins with how children are raised today, the Prime Minister’s wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has said, warning that rapid technological change poses new challenges to family life.

Speaking at the 50th Golden Jubilee celebration of the All Malaysia Malayalee Association (AMMA), Dr Wan Azizah said technology has transformed how people live, work and communicate — but, without proper guidance, can erode relationships and create distance between family members.

“Parents must prioritise family despite busy schedules,” she said. “Building a better tomorrow begins with how we raise our children today, and it starts at home.”

She praised AMMA for providing a strong support system for young people and the wider community, noting its role in fostering academic excellence, integrity, and inclusivity in line with the Malaysia Madani vision.

During the event, Dr Wan Azizah presented awards to AMMA leaders in recognition of their five decades of service.

The celebration was attended by National Unity Deputy Minister K. Saraswathy, Indian High Commissioner B. N. Reddy, AMMA patron Tan Sri Ravindran Menon, president Dr Manohur Kurup, Youth and Sports Minister and Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh, Klang MP V. Gananabatirau, Sentosa assemblyman Gunaraj George, retired high court judge Tan Sri VC George, MIC president Tan Sri S. Vigneswaran and former deputy education minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan. — August 10, 2025
