KUALA LUMPUR – Hell broke loose yesterday during the Premier League match between Kelantan and Perak at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium in Kota Baru.
Home fans were frustrated after Perak won the match 2-1, and Perak players and supporters started celebrating provocatively.
Netizens later flooded social media with videos showing about 100 fans from Kelantan and Perak in an altercation after the final whistle was blown.
As Perak fans were the visiting side, they were escorted back into the stadium to “seek shelter” in the middle of the field.

In a video posted on @nocontextbolamy’s Twitter account, Perak fans can be seen entering the pitch while gesturing at Kelantan supporters.
Later on, flares were thrown at the venue by Kelantan fans who had made their way outside.

Perak fans were later escorted out in three buses and two vans, while Kelantan supporters continued to throw objects at their vehicles.

However, some netizens said the riot was provoked by both Perak fans and players, who displayed unsportsmanlike behaviour.
In a video on @makanbolaplus’s Twitter, Perak FC player Sunday Afolabi from Nigeria can be seen apparently dancing and engaging the away fans in the 85th minute, before falling to the ground after being lightly tapped by a Kelantan player.

Another video showed Perak fans inside apparently relieving themselves on the advertising boards behind the goal post.

Bottles and stones were also thrown at the Perak team’s bus, causing damage.
One user noted that Perak FC fans have not had the cleanest track record when it comes to post-game altercations.

According to a report by Utusan Malaysia, the Perak team’s management is expected to lodge a report with the Malaysian Football League regarding the incident.
During the match, league leaders Kelantan took the lead a minute into the game before bottom-placed Perak equalised in the 14th minute.
