- Liberal Democrat deputy leader Daisy Cooper has accused Reform UK leader Nigel Farage of “physically shoving” a female Lib Dem MP during the state opening of Parliament in May.
- The claim followed Mr Farage saying he skipped the Budget speech in the House of Commons to avoid a possible “physical altercation” after his seat reservation card was removed, citing an incident in May.
- A House of Commons spokesperson later explained that Mr Farage's card was instead removed because it did not bear a valid time stamp.
- Ms Cooper alleged that Mr Farage chose to hold a press conference rather than wait several hours in the chamber for an opportunity to speak.
- Reform UK Treasury spokesperson Robert Jenrick dismissed the accusations as pathetic Westminster debates and refused to address the claims.
