Farmer organisations affiliated with the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha have once again launched a protest (‘pakka morcha’) against the transfer of ownership of sugar mills, announcing an indefinite ‘dharna’.
At the outset of the agitation, held under the banner ‘Save Cooperative Sugar Mills’, a gathering of farmers was organised on Wednesday at Gurdwara Baba Sidhana, Sheron. Addressing farmers, leaders said farmer organisations could not accept the government’s move to transfer ownership of the Sheron Cooperative Sugar Mill.
