A wedding anniversary is the annual celebration marking the date a marriage took place. It is a milestone that commemorates the journey of a marriage, often with specific, increasing-value gifts symbolizing strength. On 01 May in conjunction with the Labor Day, my wife, Zarina & I together with our family celebrated the eleventh wedding anniversary of our son, Farouq and his best half, Nadja at the Chakri Village Thai Fusion Cuisine in Alamanda Putrajaya.
For me the wedding anniversary of my son, Farouq & his wife, Nadja is a profound familial milestone that honors the foundation of our entire family. While traditionally a celebration for the couple, involving their child, Daniel and extended family transforms the day into a “family birthday” that commemorates our collective history & values. I am building a legacy of unity by practicing recurring traditions like shared meals to create a sense of stability & belonging.
For my other children, seeing their brother & wife celebrate their commitment teaches them that healthy relationships are worth nurturing. So, my family now treat happy anniversary to the heart and soul of our family as a day to celebrate everyone, often with a special family breakfast or brunch or dinner.
As HRD practitioner, my speech at this wedding anniversary relates to the Labor Day, which is “A global tribute to the social and economic achievements of workers, serving as a celebration of progress and a reminder of the historical struggles for fair treatment. It is to recognize the ‘backbone of our society’ across all industries - from healthcare and education to construction and technology. It reinforces the power of collective action and the ‘esprit de corps’ of trade & labor organizations. Labor Day is a ‘Family Birthday’ for society. It has evolved into a day of rest to be enjoyed with family for work-life balance.”
