Whether we view the prospect of retirement with relish or dread (or merely question if we'll be able to do it), the idea that most of people in the golden age, like my wife, Zarina and I, should be able to enjoy a few years of ease between a life of toil and the great hereafter. It is a relatively recent workplace innovation. Before the introduction of the modern government pension and retirement benefit system, universal provision was meagre and the prospect of reasonable financial security in the twilight years a dream for Malaysians. Fast forward to 2025, pensioners and retirees have become an entire industry.

I believe whatever our living or work situation, senior citizens should engage in light exercise like walking or gardening, which not only strengthens our bodies but also helps us maintain a healthy mind. Physical activity is crucial for older adults like myself as it helps to improve our mobility, prevent chronic illnesses, and even reduce feelings of depression or anxiety. So, my wife & I always take the opportunity to travel overseas or visiting places domestically.

Last weekend we did walkabouts at the famous IOI City Mall Putrajaya located near our home to mingle with the young & senior citizens. It is significant being the largest mall in Malaysia for a massive size of 2.5 million sq. ft & wide variety of tenants including major anchor stores like EON & GSC, diverse entertainment facilities like District 21 & Icescape ice rink. It offers a wide array of F&B options from delicious local Malaysian food to international cuisine. (https://www.ioicitymall.com.my>directory-food-restaurant-list<)

For lunch, we walked into the popular Chili's Restaurant and ordered for our favorite Texas's fish crispers. We are not two returning to Chili's. The chain which celebrated its fiftieth anniversary recently, is enjoying a TikTok-fueled renaissance and has found a new, dynamic & faithful customer base Gen Z. (chilis.com.my>category)
