LAHAD DATU: Three people, including a young girl, were killed while two others sustained serious injuries following an accident involving a Proton Saga Aeroback, a four-wheel drive (4WD), and a motorcycle at Jalan Felda Sahabat 6, here, on Sunday.
It was reported that the 55-year-old motorcyclist and one of the passengers in the Proton Saga Aeroback died at the scene, while the young girl succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment.
District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said that preliminary investigations revealed the motorcyclist, who was travelling towards Felda Sahabat from the town, had overtaken a vehicle in front of him and collided with the oncoming Proton Saga Aeroback in the opposite lane in the 6.50pm incident.
He added that following the collision, the Proton Saga Aeroback driver, a 62-year-old local man, lost control of the vehicle and veered into the opposite lane, where it collided with the 4WD.
