Father arrested after 12-year-old daughter flees home in Kepong following alleged abuse

A MAN has been arrested after allegedly assaulting his 12-year-old daughter, prompting her to flee their home in Kepong. The child was later found by a member of the public at a shop in Metro Prima.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed the incident in a statement last night, stating that police received a report from the individual who discovered the girl.

“She was brought to the Kepong Police Station and subsequently referred to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for medical examination and treatment,” he said.

According to police, the girl told officers that she had run away from home after being beaten by her father.

A medical examination revealed that the child sustained bruising under her lip, scratches on her back and pain in her head.

“At 4.40pm, the child’s father came to Kepong Police Station to lodge a report regarding her disappearance,” said Fadil. “He was then arrested by police for investigation under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.”

Investigations are ongoing, and the child is currently under the care of the authorities. - October 5, 2025
