KOTA KINABALU: A security guard has been sentenced to 26 years in prison and 15 strokes of the cane for the sexual abuse of his two young daughters, one of whom became pregnant.
The 34-year-old man, who cannot be named to protect the victims' identities, pleaded guilty to two charges at the Sessions Court in Kota Kinabalu on Wednesday.
He received 13 years and 10 strokes for raping his 12-year-old daughter, an offence committed between January and February this year in Kundasang, Ranau.

A further three years and two strokes were added due to the familial relationship, as stipulated under Section 16 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
The court heard that the unrepresented man requested leniency, citing his four children, pregnant wife, and elderly parents.
However, Deputy Public Prosecutor Fazriel Fardiansyah Abdul Kadir urged the court to hand down a heavy sentence, highlighting the appalling nature of the crimes committed by a father against his children.
