A father-son duo allegedly stabbed a man to death in full public view over a financial dispute in Bhankharpur village on Wednesday.

According to information, a past monetary dispute escalated into a violent confrontation when the enraged father and son attacked Tarsem Singh with knives, stabbing him repeatedly in the chest.

The victim was seriously injured and was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Tarsem Singh had reportedly gone to the village bus stand to get his motorcycle serviced when an argument broke out between him and the accused Moni and his son, both residents of the same village, over an old monetary dispute.

According to eyewitnesses, in a fit of rage, the accused pulled out a knife and stabbed Tarsem Singh five to six times in the chest, causing him to collapse on the spot. The accused managed to flee.

The family alleged that the injured was not taken to hospital immediately and remained at the spot for around 10 minutes. He was later taken to the Dera Bassi Sub-Divisional Hospital with the help of villagers and police, where doctors declared him dead.

The deceased’s son Bhavanpreet alleged that his father’s life could have been saved with timely medical help.

Officials said the accused have been identified and teams have been formed to arrest them. A murder case has been registered.
