Two varieties of roasted peanuts have been recalled in the United States after regulators identified the presence of a banned sweetener. The products, distributed across multiple states, were flagged by federal authorities as violating food safety rules.

The recall does not rise to the most serious risk level, though it still requires removal from circulation. According to official records, the affected items were sold in packaged form and may still be present in household pantries. The situation highlights how regulatory oversight continues even after products reach shelves. It also reflects ongoing enforcement around additives that are not permitted under U.S. food standards.

Recall Linked to Banned Cyclamate Sweetener

The withdrawal concerns Mei Heong Yuen Walnut Flavor Roasted Peanuts and Garlic Flavor Roasted Peanuts, both sold in 9.17-ounce (260-gram) packages. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the issue stems from the presence of cyclamates, a sweetener banned in food products in the United States.

The products were distributed by Super World Trading Inc., based in Brooklyn, New York. According to FDA enforcement records cited by Delish, the withdrawal was initially initiated voluntarily on February 19, 2026, and later classified by the agency on April 1.

The FDA assigned the recall a Class III designation. This category indicates that while the product violates regulatory standards, it is not considered likely to cause serious adverse health consequences. According to the FDA, Class III recalls are typically reserved for situations involving low risk but clear noncompliance.

A total of 595 cases are affected by the recall. The products were shipped to 19 states, including New York, Texas, Florida, Illinois, and Washington, among others. The distribution footprint suggests the products reached a broad consumer base, though the total volume remains limited in scale.

Product Details and Ongoing Recall Status

Specific manufacturing and identification details have been provided to help consumers identify the affected items. According to FDA records, the walnut-flavored peanuts were manufactured on July 17, 2025, with an expiration date of January 16, 2027, and are associated with recall number H-0642-2026.

The garlic-flavored variety was manufactured slightly earlier, on July 10, 2025, and carries an expiration date of January 9, 2027. This product is linked to recall number H-0643-2026. Firm codes 401020 and 401021 are also listed in the FDA documentation for the two items.

The recall remains ongoing, and the products are expected to be removed from the market. According to Delish, consumers who may still have these items are advised to check packaging details and avoid consumption.

While the FDA does not consider the health risk severe in this case, the presence of a banned substance is sufficient to trigger regulatory action. The agency’s classification reflects a balance between risk assessment and enforcement of food safety laws. This case serves as a reminder that even lower-risk recalls require attention, particularly when they involve ingredients that are not authorized for use.
