SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites are being recalled across the United States after some packages were found to potentially contain undeclared peanuts. The recall was announced by Bazzini, LLC and published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on May 27, 2026.
According to the FDA, the affected products were distributed through retailers nationwide and, in some cases, handed out as complimentary samples. No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported so far.
The recall centers on a limited number of SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites products with best-by dates in December 2026. The company said the action was taken “out of an abundance of caution” after a consumer complaint raised concerns about possible peanut contamination inside individual wrappers.
Food allergy labeling remains a major public health issue in the United States, particularly for peanuts, which are among the FDA’s nine major allergens linked to severe allergic reactions.
Consumer Complaint Triggered the Recall
According to the FDA recall notice, the issue came to light after a consumer allegedly discovered peanut butter-containing products inside wrappers labeled as SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites. The company stated that peanuts and peanut butter are not intended ingredients in the recalled product.
Bazzini, LLC, a co-manufacturer used by SkinnyDipped, issued the voluntary recall for several package varieties and lot codes. The recalled items include 10-count, 6-count, 4-count, 20-count, 24-count, 32-count, and 50-count packages of Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites sold under the SkinnyDipped brand.
The FDA said the affected products can be identified using specific lot codes and “Best By” dates printed on both the exterior packaging and individual wrappers. The listed best-by dates range from December 20 through December 29, 2026.
According to the company announcement published by the FDA, no other SkinnyDipped products are included in the recall. Consumers who purchased the affected products are advised not to eat them if they have peanut allergies and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
SkinnyDipped also provided a customer contact line and email address for questions related to the recall.
Peanut Allergies Can Cause Severe Reactions
The FDA notes that peanuts are one of the “Big Nine” allergens that federal law requires manufacturers to clearly declare on food labels. The agency states that these allergens account for roughly 90 percent of serious food allergy reactions in the United States. The nine major allergens identified by the FDA are milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans, and sesame.
According to information included in the FDA advisory, people with peanut allergies risk serious or potentially life-threatening reactions if they consume products containing undeclared peanuts. Symptoms of allergic reactions can include hives, swelling, breathing difficulties, nausea, vomiting, and a rapid drop in blood pressure.
In severe situations, allergic reactions may develop into anaphylaxis, a condition requiring immediate medical attention. The FDA advises consumers to check product packaging carefully for the listed lot codes and best-by dates associated with the recall. The agency also recommends that anyone who believes they are experiencing an allergic reaction seek medical care immediately.
The recall remains limited to the specific SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites products identified in the company’s announcement published on May 27, 2026.
