THE Film Development Council of the Philippines is currently holding “FDCP Presents: A Curation of World Cinema,” an annual screening program featuring internationally recognized films, in select cinemas nationwide until Feb. 3.
According to the FDCP, the ongoing program aims to sustain film culture and the theatrical viewing experience by presenting award-winning titles from different countries to local audiences.
“As 2026 begins, the Film Development Council of the Philippines will open the audiences to the best of world cinema,” said FDCP Chairman and CEO Jose Javier Reyes.
This year’s lineup features four films that have received major recognition at major international film festivals.
“It Was Just an Accident,” directed by Jafar Panahi and rated R13, won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Joachim Trier’s “Sentimental Value,” also rated R13, received the Cannes Grand Prix and earned a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Drama.
Also included is “The Sound of Falling” by Mascha Schilinski, rated R18, which won the Cannes Jury Prize and was selected as Germany’s official entry to the Academy Awards. Completing the lineup is “Resurrection,” directed by Bi Gan and rated R16, which received the Cannes Prix Spécial Award.
The films are screening in select venues nationwide. Participating SM Cinemas include Mall of Asia, Megamall, North EDSA, Southmall, Seaside City Cebu and Davao. Robinsons Movieworld screenings are being held at Robinsons Manila and Robinsons Galleria Ortigas, while Ayala Malls Cinemas are hosting screenings at Trinoma and Manila Bay.
