The Federal Court rejects Rosmah Mansor’s appeal to recuse the judge who convicted her, finding no breach of ethics or appealable error in the case.

PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Court has dismissed Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor’s final appeal to recuse the judge who convicted her in the RM1.25 billion solar corruption case.

A three-member panel led by Justice Datuk Nordin Hassan ruled unanimously that there was no appealable error warranting intervention.

The court also held that Judge Datuk Mohamed Zaini Mazlan did not breach the Judges’ Code of Ethics 2009.

This followed allegations that a leaked draft judgment had been prepared by a court research unit before his decision was delivered.

“Thus, the appeal is dismissed,” said Justice Nordin.

Rosmah is appealing a Court of Appeal ruling that upheld the High Court’s refusal to recuse Mohamed Zaini.

The judge, now serving at the Court of Appeal, convicted Rosmah in the Sarawak schools solar hybrid project case.

Her conviction and 10-year prison sentence were handed down on September 1, 2022.

Rosmah is the wife of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
