THE Federal Government has allocated RM850,000 for the implementation of the National River Trail Programme (DSK) in Pahang, signalling a continued commitment to river conservation and sustainable development under the Malaysia MADANI framework.

Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water (PETRA) Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir officiated the opening of the Denai Sungai Lipis in Batu Malim, Raub, which forms part of the DSK initiative organised by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia (JPS).

The 450-metre trail, whose construction commenced on 16 April 2025 and concluded on 11 June 2025, is designed to attract up to 2,000 visitors per month.

The programme aims to encourage the sustainable use and preservation of natural resources while fostering community engagement with local waterways.

During the inauguration, JPS also handed over the Triang and Semerting River Corridor Rehabilitation Projects in Mukim Pelangai, Bentong, to the Pahang State Government.

Recognition was given through the Special Water Resource Award (AKSA) to the Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) of Kampung Batu Malim for their dedication to local water and river sustainability.

"The programme seeks to cultivate a sense of belonging, heighten awareness, and foster collective responsibility among communities in safeguarding the beauty and sustainability of our rivers," Akmal  said.

He added that DSK also aims to reduce river pollution while promoting community activities and stimulating local economies through river-based eco-tourism.

The National River Trail Programme in Pahang is part of PETRA’s broader effort to align state and federal initiatives with the Malaysia MADANI aspiration of creating an inclusive, prosperous nation that values environmental stewardship and sustainable development. - November 16, 2025
