PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering harmonious, respectful, and constructive dialogue with the state governments of Sabah and Sarawak under the MADANI administration.
In a Facebook post, Anwar emphasised that the Federal Government remains determined not only to address long-standing issues but also to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Sabah and Sarawak.
“In the spirit of MADANI, the Federal Government today is the most active and has made the most progress in resolving matters related to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), thanks to the commitment, consensus, and cooperation of all parties involved,” he said.
Earlier, the Prime Minister chaired the first 2025 meeting of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63) at the Satria Pertiwi Complex in Kuching.
Present at the meeting were Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, and other federal and state leaders.
Anwar said the meeting focused on reporting the latest progress in implementing agreements under MA63.
“Among the matters presented and discussed were the proposed increase in the number of Members of Parliament from Sabah and Sarawak, tourism-related affairs, judicial appointment powers, and the devolution of authority over environmental management,” he said.
The Prime Minister also expressed his appreciation to the governments of Sabah and Sarawak for their close cooperation, sincerity, and enduring spirit of brotherhood in striving to realise MA63 in a fair and meaningful manner. - September 13, 2025
