Kota Kinabalu: The Federal government has been urged to take drastic measures amid the current drought by carrying out cloud seeding in Sabah.

The current hot and dry weather reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius has started to affect the existing water supply at the state dam, said Kuamut representative Datuk Masiung Banah in a statement.

According to him, a Sabah Water Department report showed that the water dam reservoir is at a critical stage and only three months' worth of water supply remain to cover the needs of users.

In addition, he said, water resources in river basins in several districts have also shown a significant decrease.
