FedEx names new PH managing director

MANILA, Philippines — Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world's largest express transportation companies, has appointed Garrick Thompson as the new managing director of FedEx Philippines.

Thompson replaces Maribeth Espinosa, the first Filipino and female managing director of FedEx Philippines, who led the organization through a pivotal period of growth and transformation.

A New Zealander, Thompson takes the helm of a team of over 1,300 employees. His focus will be on driving operational excellence, enhancing customer experience, and supporting Philippine businesses expand their global reach through cross-border trade.

He will also oversee the Asia Pacific Trade Facilitation Center, which manages customs clearance, trade compliance, and critical cargo documentation across Asia Pacific, the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Before his appointment to the Philippines, Thompson served as managing director of FedEx Indonesia for over five years. Since joining the company in New Zealand in 2007, he has held key leadership roles across human resources, operations, and sales.

Thompson holds a bachelor's degree in management studies, majoring in Strategic Management and Human Resources from the University of Waikato.
