“Some states still have Friday and Saturday day offs”

Following consent and blessing from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and after considering the views of the Johor Islamic Religious Council (JAINJ), starting 1 January 2025, Johor’s weekend will be changed to Saturday and Sunday.

In his latest Facebook post, he pointed out that while many places have adopted Saturday and Sunday as their weekends, there are still some states that continue to observe Friday and Saturday as their days off.

He further explained that this decision takes into account the wishes of the people of Johor to spend more time with their families and kids, along with the positive economic benefits that come from aligning with development projects aimed at improving the state and benefiting its people.

A solution for those who are unhappy with the change

He mentioned that with the consent and blessing of His Majesty, the King of Malaysia, along with input from the Johor State Islamic Religious Council, the State Government, government agencies, and the people, brought his decision to bring back Saturday and Sunday as the weekends for Johor.

However, he also offered a solution for those who are unhappy with the change, saying,

“If there are people upset or dissatisfied because of personal agendas, trying to stir things up among the rakyat, or have political interests, feel free to move to states that still have Friday and Saturday as their weekends.”
