Female schoolteacher claims trial to multiple counts of sexual abuse involving 14-yr-old student

A FEMALE schoolteacher has claimed trial at the Sessions Court in Seremban on Wednesday to five distinct charges of committing sexual assault against her fourteen year old male student since last year.

The accused, Nurul Asyikin Sutan Shahril, 42, pleaded not guilty to all charges read before Judge Siti Aishah Ab Rashid.

According to three separately read indictments, the defendant allegedly engaged in physical sexual abuse, including forcing oral sex upon the victim, with whom she held a position of trust as his form teacher.

These alleged offenses took place beneath a tree in front of the Arowana Apartment garden in Seremban 2, as well as inside a residence at Taman Nusa Intan, Seremban, between September 12, 2025, and April 7, 2026.

Consequent to these actions, she has been charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, read alongside Section 16 of the same act.

A conviction under these provisions carries a custodial sentence not exceeding twenty years alongside whipping.

The accused was also charged under Section 377B of the Penal Code, read in tandem with Section 16 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act, which carries an additional maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and a minimum of two strokes of the cane.

Beyond the physical allegations, the defendant faces two further counts of non-physical sexual abuse for allegedly transmitting photographs of her genitalia to the victim via the WhatsApp messaging application for sexual gratification.

She is also accused of enticing the teenager to send reciprocal explicit images between September 13, 2025, and April 10, 2026, at an apartment unit in Seremban 2.

For these digital infractions, she was indicted under Section 15(a)(i) and Section 15(a)(ii) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, read with Section 16 of the same legislation. A conviction here provides for a maximum jail term of ten years and a fine capped at RM20,000.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni proposed a bail amount of RM30,000 for each individual charge, coupled with conditions requiring the accused to report to a police station monthly, refrain from contacting the victim or prosecution witnesses, and surrender her passport to the court.

Defense lawyer Zaflee Pakwanteh countered with a plea to reduce the bail sum, noting that his client earns a monthly salary of RM6,000 as an educator. He further submitted that the accused is married with two children, suggesting that a manageable bail figure would be RM5,000 per count.

The defense also informed the court that the teacher had already been transferred to the District Education Office following the initial police report lodged against her.

Watching brief lawyer Nurul Ain Syamimie Anuar, from the legal firm Zahid Ahmad and Associates, was also present during the proceedings.

The court eventually fixed the comprehensive bail amount at RM25,000 for all five charges combined, while enforcing the additional monitoring conditions requested by the prosecution. - May 20, 2026
