Atletico Madrid have confirmed Joao Felix suffered an ankle injury that forced him off in the 80th minute of Los Rojiblancos' 1-1 home draw with Valencia on Saturday afternoon.

Felix was injured after shooting at the Valencia goal. Atleti had already made all three substitutions and therefore had to play the final 10 minutes with 10 men.

The Portuguese forward is set to miss between two and three weeks with a grade II right ankle sprain.

"Joao Felix could not finish the 90 minutes of the match played at the Wanda Metropolitano against Valencia CF and had to leave the pitch in the 80th minute," Atleti's statement read.

"The Portuguese has undergone an MRI and X-ray at the Clinica Universidad de Navarra, and the report offered by our medical team indicates that he has suffered a grade II sprain of the external lateral ligament of his right ankle."
