
Kota Kinabalu: A 50-year-old Filipino contractor on Friday claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to cheating a woman of RM8,000 over a purported road upgrading project.
Benjamin Golucino JR, who is currently serving a sentence for illegal entry, pleaded not guilty before Judge Zaini Fishir.
He is accused of dishonestly inducing the 46-year-old woman to hand over the money by leading her to believe he could secure a Penampang Municipal Council project to upgrade a concrete road at Jalan Kampung Guntas, Maang, Penampang.
The offence was allegedly committed at 11.30am on April 13 this year at Jun Won K-Café, Metrotown, here.
Judge Zaini fixed Oct 5 for mention and offered no bail to the unrepresented accused, while Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Fadzri Azham Zainudin appeared for the prosecution.
